Mountain Dew Helmet
This is my mountain dew helmet. I cut out various pieces of cardboard from a Mountain Dew box. It covers my head entirely and includes holes for my eyes. It has flaps on the sides for a boost of creativity. I used scotch tape and scissors in my initial creation.
Pictured above is a work in progress; my initial idea, rough draft and the final product is pictured below.
My piece has a medieval mood; it represents a helmet like those used in the medieval times. Although it has that medieval mood, it also has a hint of modernism. Mountain dew has only been around since the 1940's.

Analysis:
My piece is full-proof up to resisting nerf darts. Anything more than that, it will fall to pieces. The overall construction includes tape, several layers of cardboard, and just a few staples. It fits snug and feels like a real helmet. I would say my piece is well balanced visually because at the end of the day it resembles a helmet. It doesn't match my clothing, but if I were to make a full-body mountain dew suit, it would blend together magically.
I feel like my piece was successful. I was trying to build a mask/helmet. This is a mask/helmet. The creation process was done in a timely manner and it was not difficult to piece together.

Pinch Pot
I would describe my piece as a small thicc bowl. It has dot texture around the rim and ovular textures around the exterior side. The interior is smooth and round. The mood of this piece is simplistic and it has a textile feel to it. Overall my piece is cohesive and easy to use. The simplistic design isn't perfect but its well put together and looks ok. In the end I wish I had put more time into making sure each line and dot were parallel and more evenly balanced. The piece was an Overall success because once I fire the pot it will work and be able to hold objects.
Animal (demon) head
I made this demon at my friends house while watching iCarly. It's a very disturbing creature with a grotesque mouth, displaced nostrils, and gruesome ears. If the creature was alive the mouth would expand 30 times the size and swallow you whole. It also has little horns and two beady eyes. The mood of this piece is disturbing and it makes me feel uncomfortable looking at it. My piece is not symmetrical but there is beauty in imperfection. The asymmetric features on the demons face gives it an overall extremely creepy feel. This piece is very fragile. In the end I really like the way this piece came out. I feel I did a good job creating this piece to be disturbing.
Sgraffito Piece
Describe: I glazed my piece with black and scraped away to revel white on a piece of curved clay. Analyze: I centered the mountains so they popped out- contrast. There is enough black to make the mountains and moon and sky really stand out. Interpret: I chose the scenery because I enjoy naturistic art, nature realism, and the lack of detail. Judge: Yes I like it, I like that I can tell that the piece is intended to be a nature scenery with mountains and trees. |
North Carolina Museum of Art
Here I am pictured in front of a modern art exhibit at the NCMA that I used as my inspiration for this piece. I enjoyed making this piece an abstract illusion- if you look at it from the bottom you will always see something different. In order to make this piece I sculpted a mug shape and glazed the art exhibit. I think this was a success and I enjoyed making it, |
